Feather River College is committed to engaging students in intentional, collaborative, supportive, and meaningful academic advising. Academic advisors/counselors will guide students toward their personal, education, cultural, and career goals so they may become empowered, self-directed life-long learners.
At Feather River College we believe that every student has the potential to succeed and we take pride in caring about their success. We strive to provide every student with individual attention that will help them achieve their educational and career goals.
Entering students meet with an advisor or counselor before registering to identify educational and career goals and to develop a schedule of classes and a long-range, individualized Student Education Plan (SEP). Hgh school and/or college transcripts are used to help in this process. Preparation of an SEP helps ensure that students will meet all associate degree, transfer and/or certificate program requirements in a timely manner. Advisors/Counselors monitor the student’s progress toward academic goals on an ongoing basis.
Academic advising is available to all students whether they have defined goals in a specific major or vocational subject area, or are undecided and need help selecting a program or major. Advisors/counselors will use the College Catalog to provide students with discipline-specific information that includes the sequence of courses necessary for graduation or transfer, and a clear outlook of career and employment opportunities in the student’s major or interest area. Advisors/counselors are available on a drop-in or appointment basis.
