Student Support Services/TRIO
TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) strives to increase the success of students who are low income, the first person in their family to go to college, and/or have a disability.
The goal of SSS is to keep students in college, increase the number that earn an associates degree (or certificate) and transfer to a four-year college. The Feather River College TRiO/SSS program offers academic advising, priority registration, mentoring, financial literacy workshops, transfer workshops and trips, student success workshops, cultural events, and scholarships.
Student Support Services is one of several Federal TRiO programs that provide educational opportunities designed to motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Student Support Services was created in 1968 as part of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and is fully funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
