Community Host Program

A community for students in a supportive and safe space.

Info for Hosts

As a Community Host, you volunteer your time to support one or two college kids who need a familiar face in their new environment. There is little to no financial commitment to the program, which is fully funded and sponsored by the FRC Foundation. You are there to help students transition to a rural community and college life. Cook a meal together, attend a FRC Athletics game, go to a community event together, or show them your favorite local swimming/hiking spot. Simply put – be these students’ connection to the community!

Info for Students

As a host student, you will be welcomed into the home of a local family. Hopefully you develop a meaningful connection to this local family and this connection assists with your transitioning to college and a small, rural community. Students usually become part of community hosts’ families and have the opportunity to meet some amazing people. Whether you are coming to FRC from abroad, or simply from out of the immediate area, the Community Host program is here to help students succeed at FRC!

What Are Previous Host Students Saying?

"My community host family has become my home away from home for my two years at FRC. From having us round for dinner, giving us rides to the airport, taking us to do different activities, and being there to support us on game day, their kindness and support never goes under the radar. They are always going over and above to make us feel as comfortable and support us in whatever we do when so far away from home. It is an opportunity which really makes FRC unique for internationals, and it is something I would recommend to someone in a heartbeat."
