Professional Development Session (Staff/Faculty)- feat. Gaelin Elmore
Professional development opportunity for FRC staff & faculty!
FRC welcomes Gaelin Elmore to the College & Career Fair, and student and staff professional development sessions.
Gaelin shares, "I've come to learn and believe the difference between becoming whom you were meant to be and never reaching your potential is just a few moments. I know this is true from lived experience, and the same is true for the students that you serve, including those with adverse backgrounds. And because that is true, we need to focus on 'this moment' as we care for and serve students. I will share how the CARE acronym is a way that we can seize each moment for the betterment of those we serve."
Other topics and activities in this session include:
- Importance of belonging for everyone
- Psychology of belonging
- A brainstorm on barriers to belonging
- Defining belonging
- A brainstorm to strategize improving sense of belonging at FRC
Keynote Speaker: Gaelin Elmore
After an adverse childhood, Gaelin was lost and found football in high school. Eventually he signed with University of Minnesota and earned a degree while playing football, and then went on to play in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals. His calling was helping others, so Gaelin left the NFL and began working with youth from similar backgrounds, and assisting them in their pursuit of belonging.
Note - Gaelin will be speaking to FRC students and local high school students during the College & Career Fair. FRC staff will have their own session with Gaelin at a later time.
