These positions are in addition to seasonal fire hire events, already underway. Bringing on seasonal employees will help improve trails, campgrounds and facilities for safer, reliable and enjoyable recreation experiences.

Position Description: The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is recruiting to fill approximately 150 temporary Defensible Space Inspector (Forestry Aide) positions on a statewide basis. Primary duties of these positions include performance of defensible space inspections and interacting with the public to provide fire prevention information. All appointments are temporary and will not become permanent.

Job Description
Under close supervision, as a temporary employee, to do heavy physical work involved in fire fighting as a member of a fire crew; to assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance and repair; and to do other related work. As a member of a fire crew, receives training in wildland, rural, and structural fire suppression methods and techniques; fights fire as a member of a fire crew using tools and equipment such as a shovel, axe, McLeod, Pulaski, and back pump; clears trails, cuts brush; assists in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance and repair; inspects, cleans and repairs fire hose and equipment, sharpens fire tools, paints equipment and buildings and performs semiskilled or laboring construction work; performs general station housekeeping and kitchen duties.

Position Description:
The Northern California Reforestation Coordinator(s) will support American Forests’ post-fire restoration efforts on the Eldorado National Forest (ENF), and specifically within the 2021 Caldor Fire footprint. We anticipate hiring two Coordinator positions for 2026, who will collaborate with other American Forests staff, affiliates, and ENF staff to implement reforestation-related treatments on priority acres. Restoration activities will include:
- Inspecting and monitoring post-fire restoration treatments, including planting and herbicide
- Conducting natural regeneration surveys to assess future reforestation needs
- Supporting volunteer events
- Supporting ongoing reforestation projects in the Caldor Fire footprint
- Collecting seed from native conifers across Eldorado National Forest

The Great Basin Institute`s Forestry Stewardship Contracting program, in collaboration with U.S. Forest Service staff on the Eldorado National Forest, is recruiting one (1) Forestry Stewardship Manager to oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of forestry and conservation projects on the Eldorado National Forest.
Our department is currently hiring Pest Detection Trappers for the upcoming season. This position is well suited for students or individuals interested in agriculture, biology, environmental science, or related fields who are looking to gain hands-on field experience.
The position offers $22.50 per hour, with 40-hour work weeks, and follows a one week on / one week off schedule. We are also flexible with starting and ending dates, which can work well with student schedules.
Position Description: Plumas Corporation is seeking a Project Manager to oversee post-wildfire forest and watershed recovery planning and implementation projects. The work focuses primarily on public lands managed by the USDA Forest Service in the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade Mountains, but may also include work with private landowners. The employee will work closely with federal and state agencies, contract operators, and Registered Professional Foresters (RPFs), private landowners, and non-governmental organization (NGO) partners (e.g., Resource Conservation Districts, Fire Safe Councils, fish and wildlife organizations, etc.).
