The Feather River College Rodeo Program

The Feather River College Rodeo Team was founded in 2002 and continues to be a tradition of excellence. Our mission is to not only help students excel in the arena, but also in the classroom. We pride ourselves in celebrating the western way of life and continue to instill those values into our students. Watch us as we compete against the best in the West Coast Region!

Head Rodeo Coach - Zack Brown

Zack Brown was raised in Red Bluff, CA where he competed in junior and high school rodeos. After high school, he attended Feather River College, and competed on the rodeo team making it to the College National Finals. Zack earned his Bachelors in Business Management from UNLV while on rodeo scholarship. He led his team to the CNFR multiple years while in Vegas. Zack has competed in steer wrestling, saddle bronc, bull riding and roping, but found his passion in bareback riding. He has been competing in the PRCA for 11 years and continues to do so. Qualifying for the California Circuit finals 11 times, multiple trips to the National Circuit finals and many wins in rodeos all over the USA. Zack is excited to return to the school that jump-started his career to develop a distinguished and successful rodeo program. His commitment, drive and passion for rodeo brings a new level of performance to his colleagues and team.

Zack says his favorite things about FRC are the students he gets to instruct on a daily basis, and the beautiful Rodeo grounds that he calls his classroom now.

Assistant Rodeo Coach - Kate Askew

Kate Askew is originally from Carmel Valley, CA, where she grew up on a working cattle ranch. Kate attended Feather River College from 2019-2023, where she received an Associate’s degree in Agriculture & Equine Studies. She also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Equine Science and Ranch Management at FRC. During her time here, Kate gained knowledge from the agriculture program where she specialized in riding and training colts for FRC as well as clients. Kate currently rides and trains cow horse and rodeo horse prospects for the public. Paired with her extensive background in the cattle industry, Kate brings valuable horsemanship and stockmanship concepts to our team.

Kate says her favorite thing about FRC is the agriculture program and its students.

Assistant Rodeo Coach - Madison Eide

Madison Eide is originally from Escondido, CA and also attended Feather River College from 2019-2024 where she received an Associate’s degree in Agriculture and another in Rodeo Skills. She also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Equine Science and Ranch Management at FRC. During her time here, Madison competed mainly in the breakaway & barrel racing events. In addition she also competed at CCPRA rodeos and finished 8th in the breakaway standing in 2023. Madison is now planning to rodeo professionally in the 2025 season.
