A.A. Degree in General Studies

The General Studies Associate of Arts degree gives students an interdisciplinary foundation in a focused area of study while helping them build critical thinking, analysis, and communication skills across related disciplines.

Students may complete the General Studies A.A. in one of two areas of emphasis: Arts and Humanities or Social and Behavioral Sciences. A minimum of 60.0 semester units is required, and all area-of-emphasis-applicable courses must be completed with a grade of C or better.

Arts and Humanities

This emphasis focuses on culture, the arts, literature, philosophy, and humanities from global and comparative perspectives.

This emphasis focuses on human behavior, social institutions, and the disciplines that examine people as members of society and social groups.
