Leslie lived with grace, grit, and an unshakable zest for life, and pursued a plethora of interests. In the 1980s, Leslie moved to Quincy, California, a place that became home to her growing family and a hub of the meaningful work she would do for decades. At Feather River Community College, Leslie built a career dedicated to learning, mentorship, and community. Her impact there was profound and lasting. As Registrar for the College, Leslie advocated for student acceptance, particularly for international applicants.
Leslie was a loving and devoted wife to her husband and best friend, Randy Mikesell. Together, they shared a life of deep connection and worldly adventure. Leslie's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and her Graeagle Community Church family held a very special place in her heart. Her faith shone brightly in all she did, offering others strength and comfort.

In honor of her adventurous heart and generous spirit, Leslie’s family and friends have established the Leslie A. Mikesell Memorial Scholarship at Feather River College to encourage nursing students in their academic pursuits. In her long battle with cancer, Leslie came to have a deep appreciation for those who serve in the medical community. Leslie’s spirit will live on in every mountain breeze, every classroom, every joyful gathering, and every heartfelt prayer. She lived. She loved. She inspired. And she will never be forgotten.
