ASFRC - The Student Voice on Campus

The Associated Students of Feather River College (ASFRC) is a self-governing body recognized by the College President and Board of Trustees and is an important component of the college's shared governance structure. ASFRC officers serve on campus committees that are involved in the processes by which policies are made and college actions are determined. ASFRC officers are responsible for bringing committee information back to ASFRC Government meetings for input. And as a reminder, all elected Student Government Officers may also participate in the Student Ambassador Program!

ASFRC President: Marian Christiansen
My qualifications, background and/or experiences that qualify me for the office chosen above are:
I believe I’m a great fit for the role of President because I’m super passionate about representing my fellow students and making sure their voices are heard. I’ve always loved organizing and leading, so I’m confident in my ability to run meetings, manage budgets, and keep everyone informed. I’m a strong communicator, which is key for representing students at meetings and on committees. In high school, I was involved in FFA, where I’ve gained experience in planning events, collaborating with others, and taking on responsibilities. I’m also excited about attending leadership conferences to keep learning and improving my skills. I’m ready to take on the duties of either role, and I’m committed to being active on campus and in the community to make FRC an even better place for all students!
My vision for carrying out the mission of the Associated Students of FRC includes:
My vision for carrying out the mission of the Associated Students of FRC is all about making sure students feel heard, supported, and involved. I want to be a strong leader who listens to the concerns of students and brings those ideas to the table, whether it’s in meetings or while working with committees. I believe in staying organized, so I’d make sure our budget is managed well and that everyone knows how to use funds properly. I’d also focus on keeping everyone in the loop, making sure meetings run smoothly, and that students know what’s going on through regular updates. I’m excited about representing FRC at community meetings and in leadership conferences to keep learning and improving. I’d make it my priority to create a positive and engaging environment for all students while making sure their needs are always front and center.

ASFRC Vice President: Mele Beaman
My qualifications, background and/or experiences that qualify me for the office are:
As a current student-athlete, RA, and active volunteer with Quincy High School's boys volleyball team, I have developed strong leadership, time management, and communication skills. Being a part of a state championship team has taught me the importance of collaboration, discipline, and determination—qualities I will bring to the Vice President role. As someone who works on campus to support myself and comes from a big family, I understand the challenges many students face and want to be a voice for those balancing school, work, and personal responsibilities. My 4.0 GPA reflects my commitment to excellence, and I’m ready to apply that same level of dedication to serving our student body.
My vision for carrying out the mission of the Associated Students of FRC includes:
I want to help create a strong, close-knit student community where everyone feels connected and valued. One of my biggest goals is to get every person involved—whether through events, leadership opportunities, or simply having their voices heard. That means making ASB elections more inclusive and transparent, ensuring student voices are represented in campus-wide decisions, and organizing leadership opportunities that reflect who we are as a student body. I will stay committed to building strong relationships with both students and administration, attending leadership trainings to grow my own abilities, and making sure our student government stays active, organized, and connected. Whether it's helping in the office, representing FRC in the community, or stepping up when needed, I’m ready to serve.

ASFRC Secretary: Sarah Miller
My qualifications, background and/or experiences that qualify me for the office chosen above are:
I believe that I would be best suited for this position because I have served as a secretary and as a treasurer for my high school FFA. Because of my experience in these roles, I feel comfortable with doing minutes at meetings, making agendas and making budget reports. As well as having done roles similar to what I will be doing as your secretary and treasurer. I am on the Indoor and Beach volleyball teams here at FRC. Being an athlete has taught me many important skills that I can apply to being the ASFRC Secretary/Treasurer. I have learned good time management skills, leadership and how to work in a team.
My vision for carrying out the mission of the Associated Students of FRC includes:
As the secretary of the Associated Students of FRC, I envision this role as a unique opportunity to develop my leadership and organizational skills while actively working with the student community. By managing communication and documentation, I will grow in my ability to work effectively with diverse groups and be a part of the decision-making processes that shape our campus. This position will allow me to build valuable relationships with fellow board members and students, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose. I see this role as a steppingstone for personal growth, professional development and making a meaningful impact on the student experience.

ASFRC Student Trustee: Kenai Ring
My qualifications, background and/or experiences that qualify me for this office:
I believe I am a well qualified and motivated individual who is ready to take on the challenge of being Student Trustee. Here on campus, I am co-president of the Student Environmental Association, where I’m leading a recycling project working with local businesses. I am also a representative for two committees, the Sustainability Action Team and Student Services Council. I’m already representing the student body, with the goal of making an already great community better. Additionally I’ve been attending many of the ASFRC meetings this year to understand who helps run the school, and have taken interest in taking a leadership position and being involved. I have great experience as a representative in many other programs, like Outdoor Recreational Leadership and Environmental Studies, where I’m a dedicated student and have gotten to learn and teach skills like skiing, rafting and climbing. I am very motivated to take a higher position in which I can initiate positive change. My goal is to work with all of the students and communities on campus to create a welcoming and amazing environment!
My vision for carrying out the mission of the Associated Students of FRC includes:
As Student Trustee, I would like to bring the student leaders on campus closer to the community and create an outstanding campus for everyone to enjoy! When I first found FRC, I was amazed by the fun and interconnected community during the first Week of Welcome. However, as my first year went on, I personally didn’t feel or see the same sense of community. So as Trustee, I would like to hear the concerns of the community as a whole, including students, faculty, and staff, going beyond what we have already accomplished at our school. I see so much amazing potential in this campus, and think I can help make it even greater! I’m very motivated to start a new movement, which I believe could be accomplished by having broader events that are held more often so that all can attend and enjoy. As the Student Trustee, I promise to work hard and represent all concerns and ideas that we have for the school!
