Upward Bound students tour Chico State campus

Choosing where to apply to college can be a difficult decision, but Upward Bound helps local high school students make an educated decision about college applications and helps students with every step of the application process.

Being able to visit a college can be a huge help in making a decision about where to apply.

Last month, Upward Bound students toured Chico State and received a firsthand view of what it is like to be a student at that school.

Quincy High Upward Bound alumna Bree Taylor-Mays, who is currently in her second year at Chico State studying chemistry, gave the tour. Upward Bound helped Taylor-Mays with her college application and also helped her apply to the Chico State TRIO program.

TRIO Student Support Services programs on college campuses continue the support that Upward Bound provides to high school students, including free tutoring and advice regarding course selection. She now participates in the TRIO program at Chico State and works for the program as a peer mentor.
