Assessment Testing

Assessment assists students with making sound decisions about their courses by evaluating their reading, writing and mathematics skills.

The Feather River College Community College District uses the College Board Computerized Accuplacer placement format for assessment testing.

The purpose of ACCUPLACER tests is to provide you with useful information about your academic skills in Math, English, and Reading. The results of the assessment, in conjunction with your academic background, goals, and interests, are used by FRC Counselors/Advisors to determine your course selection so that you have the best opportunity for success. It is very important that you do your very best on these tests so that you will have an accurate measure of your academic skills.

Students must bring their Student ID number (must apply to the school in order to receive) and a valid picture ID.

In addition to assessment scores, evaluating a student's background (e.g. highest level of math and English courses completed, hours of study, hours of employment, etc.) other assessment instruments, high school and/or college transcripts are also used for course placement. Multiple measures help to provide students with the best opportunity for success in their courses.

Additional Information

After completing an initial assessment test, students can typically request to retest one time per semester. For more information contact Krystal Drybread or discuss with your Academic Advisor or Counselor.

Assessment test scores are typically acceptable for two years. After two years, if academic progress has not been made, your Advisor or Counselor will encourage you to take a new placement test for a more current and accurate measurement.
