Summer residential program

Upward Bound conducts a six-week Summer Residential Program where students live at Feather River College Monday through Friday and enroll high school “honors prep classes” and college elective classes.

Our students also participate in a wide variety of cultural, social and recreational activities during the Summer Residential Program, which allows them to experience different aspects of college life while still in high school.  Our summer program includes courses in Math, English, Science, Outdoor Recreation, Art, Technology, Health and Fitness, Student Leadership, and Conquering College.  Students will attend weekly field trips exploring careers and nearby colleges and universities.  Students will also attend a 4 day trip at UC Santa Barbara at the end of the summer program.

How often do services take place?

Saturday College takes place 1 Saturday a month from September to May.

Upward Bound counselors and tutors will make weekly contact with each Upward Bound participant

The Summer Program is six weeks and takes place from late June to early August each year.  After their Senior year, students may participate in a Summer Bridge program and take up to 12 units of freshman level college classes to get a jump start on their education.

Stipends

Upward Bound participants who attend monthly workshops will receive $40 per month throughout the academic year.  Participants will also receive $60 per month during the summer residential program.  Upcoming Seniors who wish to participate in summer work-study will receive an additional $300.
