Student Employment Program
Feather River College has a variety of on campus jobs available to students during the academic year through the Work Study Program. Students compete with other students for these jobs. No one is promised a position, and qualifying for work study is not a guarantee of employment. Students cannot work more than 20 hours per week.
To be eligible for student employment, students must meet the following criteria:
- Must be enrolled in at least 6 units during the fall and spring semesters.
- Must present appropriate documentation that establishes identity and employment authorization.
The FRC Student Employment Job List provides information about available jobs and descriptions of essential duties and minimum qualifications.
How to Apply for a Job:
Download the Student Application and Class Schedule form. Submit the completed application to the Advising Center in person or send to: Feather River College, Attn: Advising Center, 570 Golden Eagle Avenue, Quincy, CA 95971.
Applications are forwarded to the job supervisor. Supervisors contact the applicants for interviews and notify the student who is chosen for the job.
Once notified of being chosen for a job, it is the student's responsibility to contact Human Resources (530-283-0202, ext. 257) to obtain employment paperwork. The employment paperwork should be completed as soon as possible and submitted to Human Resources. Original ID eligibility documents such as Drivers License/ID, Social Security Card, Passport, or Birth Certificate will be required.
Once all paperwork has been received and approved, copies of the Student Employee Hire Form with an "Approved Start Date" will be provided to the job supervisor. The supervisor will contact the student employee to begin work and provide the student with a copy of the hire form reflecting their "Approved Start Date."
Any work completed prior to the "Approved Start Date" will be considered voluntary and unpaid.
Student Employee Responsibilities While On The Job:
Each job has an established set of job duties that will be provided by the job supervisor. Below are a few general responsibilities expected of all student employees.
Work assignments are usually set on a regular schedule based on student availability. Most jobs are flexible and will set work hours around the student's class schedule. It is the student's responsibility to show up for work on time and as scheduled. The job supervisor should be notified in case of an absence. Tardiness, excessive absence, and leaving work early are grounds for termination.
While on the job, student employees are required to dress appropriately and act professionally. Goofing off, mouthing off, and other inappropriate behaviors are grounds for termination.
Some students work in information sensitive areas and are required to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
Students are responsible for keeping a monthly Student Time Sheet (time sheet forms will be provided by the job supervisor). Student time sheets must be completed, signed, verified by the supervisor, and submitted to the Payroll Office by the end of each month. Paychecks are available at the Campus Switchboard by the 10th of each month.
