Student Employment Program

.

Feather River College has a variety of jobs available to students during the academic year; FRC employs 80-120 students each semester.   Students compete with other students for jobs.  No one is promised a position, and qualifying for work study is not a guarantee of employment.

To be eligible for student employment, you must be enrolled in 6 units or more, and cannot work more than 20 hours per week.

.

A list of available jobs stating whether or not they have been filled can be found at the following link:  FRC Student Job List.  Within the list, click on the job title to view a full description of the job.

.

How to Apply for a Job:

.

  • All applications are then forwarded to the job supervisor. Supervisors will contact potential employees for interviews.
  • The job supervisor will notify you if you have been chosen for the job.
  • Once you have been notified that you have been chosen for a job, it is your responsiblity to contact Jamie Meiners in the Human Resource Office (530 – 283-0202, ext. 280) to obtain hiring paperwork. Complete the hiring paperwork as soon as possible and submit it to the Human Resources Office.  NOTE:  You will be required to provide original ID eligibiity documents before working, i.e., Drivers License/ID, Social Security Card, Passport, Birth Certificate, etc.  Contact Jamie Meiners for a list of eligible document.

  • DO NOT WORK until your supervisor contacts you and provides you with a copy of your hire form reflecting your approved employment start date. Any work completed prior to this approved start date will be considered voluntary and unpaid.

Your Responsibilities While On The Job:

Each job has an established set of job duties that will be provided to you by your supervisor. Below are a few general responsibilities expected of all student employees.

.

  • Most on-campus jobs are flexible and will set work hours around your class schedule. Work assignments will be set on a regular schedule based on your availability. It is your responsibility to show up for work on time and as scheduled. Notifying your supervisor in case of an absence is advised. Tardiness, excessive absence, and leaving work early are grounds for termination.
  • While on the job, student employees are required to dress appropriately and act professionally. Goofing off, mouthing off, and other inappropriate behavior are grounds for termination.
  • Some students work in information sensitive areas and are required to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
  • Students are responsible for keeping a monthly Time Sheet ( Time Sheet forms will be provided by your supervisor). Time Sheets must be completed, signed, verified by the supervisor, and submitted to the Payroll Office by the 2nd of each month. Paychecks are available at the Campus Switchboard by the 10th of each month.

.

Statistics show that the retention rate of students who are employed is 80%-98%,

which means students who are working tend to keep their jobs

and persist until they reach their academic goal.
