Expended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS)

&

Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE)

Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS) and Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) are California state funded programs that are geared for low-income, first generation students.

To qualify for EOPS/CARE you must:

  • Apply for Federal Financial Aid and be eligible to receive either a Board of Governors (BOG) Grant A or B (fee Waiver)
  • Be a California Resident
  • Be determined to be educationally under prepared for college
  • Maintain a 12 unit academic load and a 2.0 GPA

To qualify specifically for the CARE program you must:

  • Be a single parent of a child under 14 years of age, and
  • Be receiving TANF funds.

The EOPS/CARE Program Application can be downloaded or obtained in either the Financial Aid Office or the EOPS/CARE Office.

 

EOPS/CARE SERVICES YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE INCLUDE:

  • Free Textbooks
  • Priority Registraton
  • Progress Monitoring
  • Educational and Career Guidance
  • Extra Personal Counseling
  • Cash Grants
  • Academic Supplies - as available
  • Special Workshops
  • Reference and Recommendation letters for college and employment
  • Resource and Referral to other campus programs and off-campus agencies
  • Transfer Assistance and Transfer Trips
  • Cultural Events that celebrate diversity

CARE students may also be eligible for financial assistance with:

  • Childcare
  • Meals
  • Transportation
  • Cash Grants
