Billy Bugenig

             Assistant Rodeo Coach/ Associate Faculty

       Coach Billy Bugenig is from Ferndale, Ca. His family owns and operates a rodeo contracting business, supplying livestock and producing rodeos. Coach Bugenig graduated from Cal Poly SLO in 2002 with a BS degree in Ag-Business. He is a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Bugening split the average at the 2010 NFR in the steer wrestling. Coach Bugenig competes throughout the country and helps his family business during the off season. He finished 7th in the world in 2010.  Coach Bugenig will also be teaching agriculture classes in the new Ag program that has been added to the curriculum at FRC.

2002 – National Intercollegiate Champion Steer Wrestler, West Coast Region

              Owned/Rode NIRA/AQHA Horse of the Year

2003 – National Intercollegiate Reserve Champion Steer Wrestler, West Coast Region      

              2004 – Calif. Cowboys Professional Rodeo Assn. Champion Steer Wrestler

2005 -    Won Oakdale, California

              Qualified for California Circuit Finals Rodeo

2006 – Qualified for California Circuit Finals

 Smarty - 3rd place AQHA/PRCA Horse of the Year

Won short Round at Fort Worth Texas 3.4

              Finished 46th in the PRCA World Standings

2007 – Finished 16th  in PRCA Steer Wrestling World Standings

              Finished 7th in Wrangler Tour Standings in Steer Wrestling

              Qualified for all four Ariat Playoffs

              Won Steer Wrestling at Ariat Playoffs in Puyallup, Washington

              Qualified for Tour Finale in Dallas, Texas Nov. 9th -11th.         

              Qualified for California Circuit Finals in Steer Wrestling

              Smarty -3rd place AQHA/PRCA Horse of the Year in Steer Wrestling

 2008- Recovered from torn pectoral muscle surgery

              Qualified for California Circuit Finals in Steer Wrestling

              Won Average at California Circuit Finals

Qualified for Dodge National Circuit Finals in Pocatello, Idaho

Finished in the top 35 of the PRCA World Standings

Smarty nominated for AQHA/PRCA Horse of the Year
