Administration of Justice

Administrative Office Management

Feather River College's Administrative Office Management and Technology Program offers students the chance to develop technological competencies as well as interpersonal and professional skills that will help prepare them for today's competitive market. Upon completion of this major, you may apply for positions such as administrative assistant or secretary in business, legal or media office environments. ART

The Art Program provides courses for students seeking an Associate Degree in Art as a terminal degree, students transferring to continue their art studies at a four year institution or art institute, students entering the professional art world and art education, and for general interest students and community members who want to develop skills in art practice and the understanding of art. Business Administration

The business program allows you maximum flexibility in designing your two-year program of study. You may specialize in a particular area of business such as accounting, marketing, management, or retailing, or select courses that will give you a general exposure to several areas of business. Upon completion of this program, you will have marketable skills that prepare you for entry into the competitive business world. The study of history helps bring students closer to humane, learned and compassionate elements of our society while teaching them to recognize that, as individuals and as a community, we cannot hope to manage the present and prepare for the future without an understanding of the past. Knowledge of the past provides students with a sense of beliefs, forces, and institutions which shaped the condition of modern society. The study of history can lead to professional work in the field as a teacher, government or private agency historian, or curator. Additionally, historical study produces a student capable of performing a variety of jobs where knowledge and intellect are in demand and in which organizational skills and critical thinking are required. Liberal Studies

The Liberal Studies major is often the choice of students transferring to four-year colleges, as it is designed to satisfy both Associate Degree graduation requirements and four-year college general education and lower division course requirements. Liberal Studies is also an appropriate major for those seeking a broad educational background, or who wish to concentrate in a subject area for which Feather River College does not offer a specific program major. Outdoor Recreation Leadership

Students in the Outdoor Recreation Leadership program develop skills and experience related to leading groups in adventure based outdoor recreation activities. The program is designed to prepare students for professional employment and seamless transfer to four-years institutions. The program philosophy encourages learning through experience. Social Science

The social sciences concentrate on the history of the human race, its behavior, mythology, and society. Among the fields of study covered by Social Science are Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. The social sciences provide a solid basis for further study in the liberal arts, social sciences, or humanities, and are often the best choice for students contemplating further study in the social sciences area, or by those looking toward careers in social work, teaching, or the law. University Studies

The FRC University Studies Program is a joint agreement with California State University, Chico which, when completed, guarantees admission to CSU, Chico with Junior standing as well as the AA degree from Feather River College. Associate in Science

Biology

A knowledge of biology is an important component for work in forestry, wildlife, watershed resources and other environmental science areas. The biology major is also essential for those considering a career as a lab technician or planning to pursue studies in veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, or pre-med programs and medical school. Chemistry

Chemistry is one of the central sciences and provides a solid knowledge base the physical or pure sciences. Its subject is the chemical interactions which form the molecular structure of matter and life. The discipline covers fundamentals of chemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry, and environmental chemistry. A knowledge of chemistry is fundamental for those students wishing to pursue more advanced work in chemistry, the physical sciences, pre-med or medical school, or employment as a lab technician. Environmental Studies

Mathematics

Mathematics provides a foundation for further study in mathematical systems as well as in logical and quantitative reasoning. Mathematics gives you a solid beginning for further study in engineering, physics, physical sciences, medicine, economic theory, and other areas in which a solid conceptual background in quantitative reasoning is necessary. It is ideal for those majoring in the physical sciences, engineering or math. For more information contact the Instruction Office.

Equine Studies

The only program of its kind in the United States, the Feather River College Pack Station and Stable Operation Horse Program was approved as a two-year associate degree program by the California Community College Chancellor's office in 1987. This unique program offers college-level course work to students who wish to become professionals in the horse-related enterprises. In this program. you will gain the skills needed for jobs as stable and pack station managers, wranglers for guest ranches and resorts, packers, guides, and outfitters for hunting and fishing expeditions, mining and construction companies, and a variety of public agencies such as the U.S. Forest Service. Physical Science

The field of physical science covers the non-biological sciences and includes Chemistry, Geography, Geology, Natural Resources, Water Resources, Physics and Physical Science. A major in physical science provides background for continued study in one of the scientific areas, in subjects such as engineering, and in certain areas of natural resource management. Physical science is an excellent choice if you intend to major in a scientific field or need a solid scientific background for your career path. For more information contact the Instruction Office.

Vocational Nursing

The health care field is expected to be one of the largest fields of employment in future years. The Licensed Vocational Nursing program offers an Associates degree of Certificate of Achievement. Both options prepare you to take the California State Board of Nursing License Exam. Students in this program are prepared to work in hospitals, clinics and home health care. The LVN program is the second step in the nursing career path, the next step being the Registered Nurse (R.N.)
