The Art Instructor/Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining an art program, which includes art history courses, studio art, and possibly applied technical art/new media.  As the Coordinator of the Art Program, this position includes responsibility for assisting in the design and function of the studio areas.  As the Art Instructor, this person will teach classes in art history and studio or applied arts.  Must have a Master’s degree in fine arts, art, or art history OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in humanities OR the equivalent. Advises and provides counseling for Student Support Service Programs on a variety of school and program-related issues, decisions, and processes. Assists students in determining a major, complete student educational plans, making transfer plans, and conducting interventions to assure success. Provide career counseling including conducting and interpreting career assessments and aptitude tests. Provide academic counseling including assistance with policy interpretations and registering for classes. Provide personal counseling including referrals to local mental health providers, and crisis intervention. Develop and foster relationships with teaching faculty by attending all curriculum meetings, Academic Senate meetings, and Division meetings. Other related duties as assigned. Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent. To teach a wide range of college level courses in the discipline of English.  Master’s in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition OR a Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing, or journalism OR the Equivalent.  Teaching experience preferred, yet not required.
