Head Coach
Rob Cann

Coach Rob Cann begins his first year as the head Volleyball Coach at Feather River College. Coach Cann brings 22 years of coaching and playing experience at the high school, club, junior college, division II, and International levels. Coach Cann is looking forward to the challenge of rebuilding the Feather River volleyball program to a competitive level.


Coach Cann began his competitive volleyball experience in Southern California, where he was a two-year lettermen at Cerritos Junior College and a AA beach volleyball player. Coach Cann transferred to California State University, Chico, where he helped his team win two national titles. Cann was also a player coach at Chico State and helped his team establish two years of a top five NCAA rankings: First by upsetting 3rd ranked Long Beach State, then by barely losing to 1st place Stanford in a nail biting five game match.

Coach Cann also participated in the open division of the USVBA nationals in New York and Berkeley. At the end of his colligate career Coach Cann was invited to try out for the United States Olympic Men’s Volleyball Team. After graduating, Cann was sponsored to play two man beach volleyball where he spent four years traveling and playing on the beaches of the US.

Cann got the coaching bug while in Southern California where he coached the boy’s team at Carson High School to two league Championships. After Carson High School Coach Cann assisted legendary Coach Dave Saenz at Butte Community College for two years. Then as an undergrad at CSU-Chico, Cann assisted the women’s team to two successful seasons. After graduation Coach Cann spent time traveling the US assisting with the US volleyball developmental camps. He has also coached with Mid-Night Sun Juniors, in Alaska, Fort Wayne Juniors, in Indiana, and Club Thunder Juniors, in Indiana.

In 1995 Cann returned to California to work on his maters degree in physical education and exercise sciences. While attending Chico State Cann was the head coach for a year at Lassen College and helped start the girl’s volleyball program at Lassen High School. The following year he returned to Chico State as the assistant and remained there for two years. Cann then took the assistant job at Butte Community College, and coached the number one team for the Club Chico junior volleyball program.

Coach Cann also helped start the boy’s volleyball program at Chico High School where they dominated for two years. He also started The Chico Elite boy’s volleyball club program.

Coach Cann has been a head volleyball official starting in the early 80s. He was the National Competition Director for the Jose Cuervo Beach volleyball series for 4 years, He also promoted the USA and the USSR men’s volleyball exhibition matches.

Coach Cann Graduated form North Lake Tahoe High School where he played basketball, tennis and ran track. He attended Cerritos Junior College in Southern California for two years where he played volleyball, tennis and ran track. He is a graduate from California State University, Chico, where he earned his Bachelors degree in Information and Communications studies and played volleyball. He also received his Masters in Physical Education and Exercise sciences from Chico State.

Assistant Coach
Leslie Wehrmen

Leslie Wehrmen has been a Plumas County resident for the past 20 years. She graduated from Portola High School, where she played volleyball for four years under the instruction of Jerry Hagstrom. The lady Tigers earned several championship titles during her playing years, and Leslie was awarded the MVP honors in both 1986 and 1988.

Leslie then traveled to Chico and was a student as CSUC for over 3 years. She later graduated from the JATP wild-land firefighting academy, placing in the top three of all graduates. Leslie has also been a student at Feather River College, and is currently pursuing a BA in Cultural Anthropology with a credential in Pupil Personnel Services.

A local business owner, wife, mother of two daughters, and what Leslie calls a “professional volunteer” she bring a wide and varied background to the Feather River College volleyball program. She has been the Portola preschool President, an elementary school teacher’s aide, a high school counselor and tutor, and a youth athletic coach for the past five years. Leslie states, “I feel confident in my choice to work with our young adults both in the classroom and on the playing field, kids are so much fun! I hope to encourage the Golden Eagle Ladies to give their personal best, to laugh as much as possible, and to strive for a life of integrity.”

 

Assistant Coach
Bob Battistoni

Bob Battistoni has been involved with the sport of volleyball for over fourteen years in one capacity or another.  He’s played the sport on the beaches of Southern California, in adult leagues, and intramural play in college.  He coached volleyball as an assistant for Feather River Preparatory High School for one year, and more recently was the Head Coach at Portola High School for the past five years.  During these five years at PHS, his teams never lost a league match, and were league champions all five years.

 Bob believes strongly in team unity, players giving their all, and focusing on the foundations of the sport.  His love for coaching and never give up attitude are key elements for breeding success in any team.

Eva Carter

Eva is a two-sport athlete who plays basketball and volleyball. She is a quiet threat on the floor and should provide the Golden Eagles with consistency and determination to get the job done. Carter’s sweet spirit and attitude will definitely be an asset for the lady Golden Eagles this season. "I always chew cinnamon flavored gum and put the right side of my uniform on first before every game," Eva said.

 


Shasta Doke

Shasta comes to FRC from the small town of Carlin, Nevada where she participated for four years in Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball. She is a serious student (Honor Society member) who enjoys staying involved and being active on and off the court. Shasta shows a lot of promise, especially in her digging abilities, and is sure to be an asset for the Golden Eagles. She says, "I look forward to participating in FRC Volleyball and hope to have a great time while I am here." Shasta will also be joining Feather River College’s Softball team.

Diane joins the FRC team after a successful career at Esparto High School, where she earned All League her Senior year–her enthusiasm and drive to succeed is sure to inspire and motivate the Golden Eagle team. Diane comes to FRC as a two-sport athlete where she will also play on the Women’s Basketball team. We expect big results from her this season…when asked for a quote, Diane’s first words were, "I miss my horse."

 


Torrey Hood

Torrey is a hard working athlete with a lot of heart. She will provide the Golden Eagles with both hitting and blocking depth and will be a good communicator out on the court. Torrey earned All-League at the Varsity Volleyball level and has massive power potential for kills this season. She believes, "Traume nicht dein leben…leben dein traum." Translation – dream not your life…live your dream."

 


Jenny Foard

Jenny comes to FRC with a lot of competitive experience. She was an All-League player in 2002 and has played Club Volleyball in Nevada for the past five years. Spectators can look to Jenny to excel in her setting skills and play a leadership role on the floor. Her quote? "GSA." You figure it out.

 

 


Lindsay Kaempfer

Lindsay is a Freshman who demonstrates the ability to get the job done. She earned the Best Hustle award in both 1998 and 1999, and in 2001 was named Best Defensive Player. Lindsay also gained Honorable Mention at the Sunset Conference. With all these attributes, Lindsay is a welcome addition to the lady Golden Eagles team. She states, "We’ll all be in some book somewhere, but the books we strive to be in are the only books that truly matter."

Jenna’s physical power and understanding of the game make her a real threat on the court. She was named Best Defensive Player and earned All League at Portola High School in 2001. Jenna is an inspiration to the Golden Eagles, and her intensity will surely drive the team to succeed. "In Volleyball, there is no whining."

 

 


Kari-Anne Morrison

Kari-Anne, aka "Lil Mo," is a great addition to the Golden Eagle program. She is expected to bring depth and versatility to the team, and is improving her skills daily. Kari-Anne earned the Volleyball MVP award in both 1999 and 2000 at Oroville High, and will also be joining the FRC Softball team. "My goals this year at FRC are to become the greatest team player I can be and to obtain a 4.0 GPA while playing two sports at the same time. I know I can achieve whatever I set for myself…I also know there is a big difference between a good player and a team player," said Kari-Anne.
