Head Coach Merle Trueblood is in his 3rd season coaching softball at Feather River College. He has been a softball and football coach for over 18 years in the Northern California area. Merle moved to Plumas County to be the Director of the Almanor Recreation Department in 1998. In the fall of 1998, he was hired by Feather River College, as the Assistant Softball Coach and was given the task to create the very successful camps and clinics program that serviced over 12,000 students at FRC. In 1999, Coach Trueblood and the Golden Eagles recorded 40 Wins and 11 losses and finished in the Northern California’s top 16 during his coaching time here. After that successful season, Merle was named Director of Athletic programs, where he helped institute 5 new sports into the college, including the new rodeo program.  

Currently, Coach Trueblood is the Director of Athletics/Operations at Feather River College and has been named the Head Softball Coach. In his second season as FRC softball coach, his team won co-champs of the Golden Valley Conference and received a bid to the regional playoffs.

Coach Mackey is in her 3rd year of coaching at Feather River College. Hired in January of 2005, as the assistant softball coach, she helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 2006 Golden Valley Conference Co-Champion title, as well as, a Regional playoff appearance in 2006. Carrie is originally from Princeton, Idaho, where she started her intercollegiate softball career in 2000, at the junior college level, in Ontario, Oregon at Treasure Valley Community College. She worked hard to earn honors of being named to the All-Region team in both 2000 and 2001 and being named 3rd Team All-American in 2002. She finished up her remaining two years of softball eligibility at the University of Nevada-Reno under Head Coach Michelle Gardner. In 2002, Carrie was named to the Academic All-American team, as well as, being named Offensive Player of the year in 2004. Coach Mackey graduated in December 2004, with a Bachelor in Health Ecology.
