Recent Articles: Eagles struggle to end on a high note Both defense and offensive struggled to work for the Eagles. In the first game the defensive committed 5 errors allowing Redwoods to jump to an early lead. Freshman Corby Ramsey went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and a homerun. The Eagles fought hard to get back into the game, but were unable to pull off a win. The second game was not any better for the Eagles as again the defense struggled to back up the pitching performance of Rachel Bush. The defense committed 7 costly errors, allowing Redwoods to get back into the game. Again the Eagles left 8 runners on base, unable to hit at the right time to score. Janette Boyer hit a two run homerun giving the Eagles their only lead of the game. Redwoods answered back and scoring 8 runs to win 8 to 3.
Freshman Corby Ramsey Redwoods Rescheduled due to Rain The Eagles will meet College of the Redwoods at a halfway point in Redding, CA on Tuesday the 24th. Eagles Host Shasta College On the 21st, the Golden Eagles took on Shasta College in their last home games of the season. The Eagles left 11 runners on base despite combing for a team total of 10 hits. Corby Ramsey had a great game at the plate going 2 for 3, with 1 walk, and 2 RBI's. Justine Fulton and Rachel Bush also helped out with the cause going 2 for 4. Shasta College kept the Eagles at bay winning 6-4. In the second game the Eagles came out ready to play and ended up winning 5-0. Sam Hodson stepped up to the plate and went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI, and scored 2 runs for the Eagles. Kayla Dunn went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's. The Eagles jumped out to an early lead and never looked back shutting out Shasta College. Eagles Travel to Lassen College On Friday the 20th, The Golden Eagles faced off against Lassen College. It was a pitching dual in game one, which made for an exciting conference game. Janette Boyer got the lone hit for the Eagles, who were unable to score Boyer. Two defensive errors and 6 allowed walks gave Lassen the win. The Eagles fell 1-0. In the second games the Eagles were fired up as they came back to win the second game 4-0. Rachel Bush and Kayla Dunn combined for 4 hits and 2 runs. Rachel Bush took the win on the mound allowing just 4 hits and striking out 5 batters. Eagles Lose Both to College of the Siskiyous In the first game against College of the Siskiyous, the Eagles were unable to compete against Siskiyous powerful bats. Freshman Corby Ramsey went 1 for 1 with 2 walks and 2 RBI's. The Eagles stranded 8 base runners as they fell 15-5 in the first game. Despite out hitting College of the Siskiyous in the second game, the Eagles fell 11-3. Rachel Bush, Justine Fulton, and Janette Boyer combined for 6 hits. College of the Siskiyous managed to hit at the right time keeping the lead for the entire game. Eagles Home against # 1 in the State; College of the Siskiyous The Eagles will take on College of the Siskiyous on Friday the 13th in Quincy, CA at 12 and 2pm for a conference double header. On Saturday the 14th, the Eagles are home once again to face College of the Redwoods for a conference double header. Game times are 12 and 2pm.
Sophomore Rachel Bush Eagles face College of the Redwoods and Shasta College On Thursday, the Eagles travelled to Eureka, CA to take on College of teh Redwoods on Friday. Redwoods managed to jump out to an early lead of 1 to 0, but that did not phase the Eagles. The Eagles again combined for 12 hits, while Rachel Bush, Corby Ramsey, and Kayla Dunn all went 2 for 3 in the game, allowing the Eagles to score 4 runs. The second game started off just as good as the first. The Eagles jumped to an early lead in the 2nd inning with a score of 5 to 0. Playing to relaxed at this point the Eagles allowed Redwoods to come back into the game. From that point on it was a back and forth hitting dual as the Eagles managed to keep a strong defense gaining the victory in the last inning of the game. On Saturday the Eagles faced Shasta College in another conference double header. The Eagles jumped out to an early 3 to 0 lead in the 1st inning. Homeruns by Alex Cox and Janette Boyer put the Eagles on top. Shasta College rallied back in the 3rd and 4th innings to move into the lead. By then it was to late for the Eagles to pull off a win, despite a last chance rally to score two more runs. Janette Boyer finished the game going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's. In game two, the Eagles once again jumped out to an early lead. The bats were still hot for the Eagles, who once again combined for a total of 10 team hits. Jessica Felker went 3 for 4, with 2 runs scored and teammate Kayla Dunn helped out going 2 for 3, with 1 walk. With pitching efforts by Rachel Bush and Kayla Dunn the Eagles only allowed Shasta College to score 1 run on a wild pitch. The Eagles are 6-6 in conference and 12-21 overall.
Freshman Corby Ramsey Eagles Home against Butte College On Wednesday the 4th, the Golden Eagles hosted Butte College in another conference double header. In game one, Kayla Dunn went 1 for 1, with 2 walks and Rachel Bush went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's. The Eagles ended up winning 8 to 5. In game two the Eagles came out flat after the first win. Despite a great team effort of 12 hits the Eagles were not able to recover from the early lead by Butte College. The Eagles fell short loosing 9-12. Eagles struggled while on the Road On Wednesday, the Eagles faced Butte College in a conference double header. Butte won the first game on an error in the last inning of the game. However, the Eagles did not let that lose affect them, as they bounced back winning game two 11 to 5. The next day the Eagles took on the 6th ranked team in the State, Sacramento City College. The bats and defense were not with the Eagles in the first game, but they battled back in the second game stringing hits together and had tougher defense. Over the weekend the Eagles took part in the Wolverine Classic Tournament and did not have a good outing. The Eagles struggled to put the ball in play, not being able to pick up a win for the entire weekend. Eagles will Play 9 Games in 4 days Next Week On Wednesday the 28th, the Eagles will travel to Oroville, CA to play a conference double header against Butte College at 12 and 2pm. The Eagles will then play Sacramento City College at Sacramento, CA on Thursday the 29th, at 2 and 4pm. To wrap up the week the Eagles will be taking part in the Wolverine Classic Tournament hosted by Sierra College.
Sophomore: Kayla Dunn covering on the Steal Eagles Bats Came Alive, but Not Soon Enough The Eagles came out swining the bats the best they have since the season started. The Eagles collected 7 and 8 hits in the double header action against College of the Siskiyous. In the first game, 5 Eagles went 1 for 2, while Alex Cox went 1 for 1 with two Sacrifice Bunts. Despite better hitting the Eagles left 6 runners on base. The final score of the game was 9-1. In the second game of the day, Justine Fulton hit a grand slam bringing the Eagles back into the game making the score 4-5. She finished the day going 2 for 3 with 6 RBI's. The defense cut down on errors, but Siskiyous managed to hit the ball just out of reach. The Eagles stranded 8 runners on base, not able to get those timely hits. The final score of game two was 14-6. The Eagles overall record is now 7-12 and 1-3 in Conference.
Freshman: Corby Ramsey fielding a pop fly Eagles Travel to Siskiyous The Eagles will be heading up to Weed, CA to take on the 2nd ranked team in the State for a double header at 12 and 2pm. Eagles Struggle to Get the Bats Going This past weekend, the Eagles had a rough time combining for only 12 hits in four games. Regina Serna had a great performance against Sacramento City College going 2 for 2 with a two run homerun and a single. Corby Ramsey's bat came alive in the first game on Sunday against Taft College, hitting her first homerun of the season and earning 3 RBI's. The defense improved for the Eagles who cut down on errors, but this time around the offensive game was not there. The Eagle's went down losing all four games.
Freshman: Regina Serna Eagles Travel to Fresno The Eagles will be heading out Friday afternoon traveling to Fresno, CA to take part in the 2007 Fresno City College Bash at Buchanan Tournament. The Eagles will play on Saturday the 17th at 10:45am against top ranked team Sacramento City College, then Canyons College at 12:30pm, and end the day at 5:45pm against Porterville College. The results of Saturday's games will determine when the Eagles will play on Sunday. Eagles Split with Lassen in Home Conference Opener In the first game of the day it was a back and forth pitching dual against both teams. In the 4th inning, Jessica Felker put an end to that by ripping a triple to left center. Unable to score Felker with the next batter, Justine Fulton came up and laid down a perfect suicide bunt to score the game winning run for the Eagles. The Eagles defense backed up pitcher Rachel Bush, who threw her first shut out, by comitting only 2 errors for the entire game. This had been one of the best defensive performances by the Eagles. In game two, Lassen came out ready to swing the bats. Lassen College managed to find the holes in the defense hitting bloopers and slow hit balls just out of reach of the Eagle defense. Lassen's pitcher kept the Eagles at bay giving up only two hits. Jessica Felker and Regina Serna were the only Eagles to get on base. The Eagles fell 5-0.
Sophomore: Janette Boyer Eagles Go 2-3 at the Ohlone Tournament Despite a strong performance of offensive hits, the Eagles could not recover from defensive errors that hurt them during both days of the tournament. Rachel Bush was a homerun away from completing a cycle against Yuba College were the Eagles picked up their first win of the day. Regina Serna also had a great game against Yuba College going 3 for 3 and scoring 4 runs for the Eagles. Justine Fulton also helped the cause by hitting 2 homeruns and wrapping up the night with 7 RBI's. Early Sunday morning the Eagles took on Hartnell College, winning 2-1. Rachel Bush started things off hitting her second homerun of the season, bringing the score 1-0. Hartnell College did not take long to score their first and only run of the game as well. Jessica Felker had a great game going 3 for 4 against Hartnell and scoring the game winning run for the Eagles as time ran out. The next game of the day was against Diablo Valley College were the Eagles ran out of gas after a long weekend. Despite a great pitching performance by Rachel Bush, Diablo Valley managed to find holes in the defense and score 9 runs. The Eagles were unable to score a run in their last game of the day in the single elimination tournament. Golden Eagles Travel to Fremont, CA The Eagles will be taking part in the Ohlone Tournament (Pool Play). There will be three games played on Saturday starting at 11am against Porterville College, 3pm against host Ohlone College, and the last game of the day will be at 7pm against Yuba College. The results of Saturday's games will determine when the Eagles will play on Sunday. The Golden Eagles Bounce Back after Rough Start The Eagles first game of the day was a rough one. The team was plagued with five errors allowing Modesto Community College to jump out to a 7-1 lead by the 2nd inning. The Eagles left 4 runners on base and struggled with the bats to get things going. Amanda Sbragia came up to the plate and knocked in Janette Boyer to score the only run for the Eagles. The Eagles fell 12-1. Despite, a rocky start the Eagles turned things around against DeAnza College. The Eagles stepped up their defense and hit at the right time to knock in 2 runs. DeAnza didn’t give up though, fighting hard and also scored 2 runs sending the game into the International Tie Breaker rule. After time had expired, Regina Serna started out on 2nd base for the Eagles. A sacrifice bunt by Sam Hodson moved Serna over to 3rd base when Amanda Sbragia stepped up for the Eagles and hit a line drive down the right field line to score Serna, tying the game 3-3. The Eagles defense stood their ground, not allowing DeAnza to score, giving the Eagles one more chance to win the game. Jessica Felker, who started on 2nd base, ended up scoring the game winning run on a pass ball and a throwing error by the catcher. The Eagles came out on top winning 4-3. The Eagles carried over the energy and intensity of Saturday night’s game into Sunday. Starting off with the 10th ranked team in the North, Fresno City College, the Eagles came out swinging the bats and ready to play. Starting the inning off, Justine Fulton got on base after being hit by a pitch. Rachel Bush came up and got on base, due to an error by the first baseman on her bunt attempt. With runners at 1st and 2nd, Kayla Dunn came up to the plate and hit her first of three homeruns of the season. The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning. In the 3rd inning, Rachel Bush helped her own cause by hitting her first homerun of the season as well. Following Rachel Bush, Kayla Dunn knocked her 2nd homerun of the game over the right center field fence, making the final score 5-3. The last game of the day was another exciting game to watch. The Eagles took on Gavilan College winning their 3rd straight game of the tournament. Kayla Dunn hit her 3rd homerun of the day, allowing the Eagles to jump out to an early lead. Regina Serna followed suit hitting her first college homerun of the season. With defense to back her, Rachel Bush took the win on the mound improving to 4-2 overall and allowed 3 hits while striking out 5 batters. The Eagles beat Gavilan College 5-1. The Eagles overall record is now 4-2. Golden Eagles head towards Redding, CA The Golden Eagles will be participating in the 2nd Annual North State Shootout Tournament located at the Big League Dreams facility this weekend. The Eagles will take on Modesto Community College at 4pm and will finish the day against DeAnza College at 7pm.
Sunday's games will start at 10:45am against Fresno City College and the last game of the day will take place at 3pm against Gavilan College. The Golden Eagles were led by Janette Boyer, who went 2 for 3, hitting two singles. Rachel Bush helped her own cause going 1 for 2, with 1 walk. Regina Serna knocked in the first run of the season for the Eagles, followed by Corby Ramsey who hit in Serna. The final score of the game ended 2-3 Yuba. The Golden Eagles kept the bats going into the second game combining for 8 hits. Kayla Dunn led the team going 2 for 3 hitting a double, triple, and had 3 RBI's. Janette Boyer stepped up to the plate and ripped a double down the left field line scoring 2 runs. Despite two defensive errors the Golden Eagles were able to fend off Yuba College winning 8-6. Sunday's games with Sierra College, were cancelled due to weather and will be rescheduled for a later date. Golden Eagles Open with Yuba and Sierra CollegeThe Golden Eagle's, full with young talent, will travel Saturday the 24th to play against Yuba College in Marysville, CA. The Golden Eagles are eager to play their first game of the season after last weekend games were rescheduled. The Golden Eagles are looking towards their captains, Kayla Dunn, Rachel Bush, and Justine Fulton for leadership and guidance as they begin play. The Golden Eagles will then travel Sunday to Rocklin, CA to take on Sierra College at 12 and 2 pm.
