Coach Taylor begins his second season as the Head Coach of the Golden Eagle softball program Taylor will look to build upon a successful first season where he lead Feather River to a third place finish in the tough Golden Valley Conference and its first playoff appearance since 2006, almost knocking off the fourth seeded Fresno City College Rams in the first round. Under Taylor's guidance the Golden eagles saw improvements in batting average (.270) runs scored, ERA (almost a full run lower) and stolen bases. On May 29, 2008, Taylor began his first season has the Head Softball Coach at Feather River College. Taylor took the position after spending four seasons as a baseball coach for both Feather River College and San Joaquin Delta College. He spent the 2005- 2007 seasons as the infield coach at FRC and spent the 2007 season as the head recruiting coordinator and infield coach at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton Ca. Taylor was also the Head Baseball Coach at Quincy High School in 2003 & 2004, leading the Trojans to a CIF Northern Section Championship in 2003.
In Taylor’s three seasons at Feather River College he helped to compile impressive totals which include two conference championships, three straight top twenty rankings and playoff appearances, and an unprecedented 25-0 Golden Valley Conference record in 2007. Taylor helped lead the 2005 and 2007 teams to lead the state in numerous offensive categories: team batting average .336, runs scored 323, RBI's 284, doubles 104 and finished second in 2005 with 93 stolen bases.
In Taylor’s one year at San Joaquin Delta College he contributed to turning a struggling program around. Taylor helped to lead the Mustangs to the 20 win mark for the 1st time since 2002, 1st playoff appearance since 1999, Final RPI ranking of 16th, up from 31 the previous year, team batting Average of .300, up from .233 and a team Fielding Percentage of .957.
Taylor’s collegiate playing career was highlighted in 1994 at the University of Nevada – Reno. That year, the Wolf pack compiled at season record of 41-15 while going 16-5 in the Big West Conference, capturing their first Division 1 conference championship. Nevada was nationally ranked as high as 6th that season and finished the season nationally ranked at 17. Before Nevada, Taylor attended Reedley College as a standout baseball player. Taylor lead the Tigers in RBI’s in 1993.
Taylor earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and his Master’s degree in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy.
Taylor is married to Michelle and has one daughter, Madyson (11).
