The Instructors

	Russell Reid Program Director/ Faculty Russell Reid has been involved in the Equine Studies business as an Outfitter/Guide for over 30 years and a faculty member at Feather River Community College since 1978. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Business from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, and a Master of Science degree in Recreation Administration from California State University, Sacramento. In addition to his teaching duties, Russell operates three pack stations during the summer months and owns a cattle, hay and horse ranch in the beautiful American Valley.
	Chuck Mills Faculty Chuck Mills is an Animal Science Graduate from Fresno State and holds a masters degree in Reproductive Physiology from UNR. Chuck has developed his teaching skills through his experiences as a 4-H leader, Horsemanship Instructor at UNR and Public Clinician. He has been in the horse and cattle business for more then 40 years, including breeding training and showing Quarter Horses. As a faculty member at Feather River Community College, he teaches AGEQ 210 Applied Ranch Skills, AGEQ 212 Ranch Work with horses, AGEQ 205 Training Young Horses under saddle, AGEQ 103/106 Western Equitation I and II, and the summer Ranch Skills Short Course (AGEQ 175).
	Jesse Segura Head Rodeo Coach/ Agriculture Faculty Jesse Segura has been involved in rodeo his whole life. His rodeo abilities led him to the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Men’s All-Around championship in 2003. His knowledge of the sport allowed him to hold the office of National student president of the NIRA the same year. Other rodeo accomplishments led him to the California circuit finals competing in the events of Saddle Bronc riding and Bulldogging. Jesse’s academic & intercollegiate rodeo background started at Lassen Community College, he then transferred to West Hills Community College, and then went on to California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, Ca. where he acquired a bachelors in Earth Science with a minor in Political Science. He then went on to get his Masters from Cal Poly in Environmental Policy.
	Gene Armstrong Associate Faculty Professor Armstrong earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, in 1973. He has taught Farrier and Equine Science at Cal Poly since 1966. He has been a professional farrier for 40 years and is currently an Updated Certified Journeyman Farrier. As an associate faculty member at Feather River Community College, he teaches the Elements of Horseshoeing course.
	Jaime Messerli Associate Faculty Jaime graduated from FRC in 2000 and is now part of the associate faculty in the Equine Studies Department. "Going to FRC was a wonderful experience and it is great how much this program has grown over the past years. I enjoy working with the students and their horses; it is a lot of fun watching them learn together". Jaime teaches AGEQ 103 Western Equitation I, AGEQ 009 Draft Horse Driving, AGEQ 108 Pack Station & Stable Operations, AGEQ 208 Advanced Pack Station and Stable Operations.
	Crystal Anderson Associate Faculty/ Instructional Assistant Crystal earned her Master of Science from the University of Arizona Department of Animal Sciences where the area of her research was in equine reproduction as well as a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Science from The Univeristy of Arizona. Crystal started her employment at Feather River College for the department of Equine Studies in 2005 and has enjoyed her time working with the the students and especially the horses. She teaches AGEQ 102 Introduction to Equine Science, AGEQ 104 Horse Conformation and Judging, AGEQ 214 Care and Handling of the Foal, Weanling, and Yearling, AGAS 120 Introduction to Animals Science, AGAS 125 Animal Feeds and Nutrition.
