Take an Assessment Test (new students only)

All new students planning to take 6 units or more, pursue a degree or certificate, and/or take English or math courses are required to take an assessment test prior to advising/counseling appointments.  Assessment tests indicate an entering student's skill levels in English and math. We advise you to come rested and fully prepared to concentrate on these tests because the results assist you and the advisor/counselor in determining appropriate class placement.  The tests take about two hours to complete, and results are available almost immediately.  Results do not affect eligibility for admissions.  Special testing accommodations are available for students with disabilities and limited English skills by advance appointment.

Contact Marilynn Shaw at 530-283-0202, ext. 313, to arrange for an assessment test.

See an Advisor/Counselor

Students must meet with an advisor or counselor before enrolling in classes to identify educational and career goals and to develop a schedule of classes and a long-range, individualized Student Education Plan (SEP) to ensure that students will meet all degree, certificate or transfer requirements.  Assessment scores and high school and/or college transcripts are used to help in this process.

Continuing students who have completed 15 units of college credit are required to have an SEP on file, which should be updated every semester.

Contact Marilynn Shaw at 530-283-0202, ext. 313, to make an appointment.
