Eastern Plumas Community Learning Center (CLCH)

The Eastern Plumas Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) has enhanced Feather River College’s (FRC’s) work-based learning program by adding a community learning center to the Chamber’s Blairsden office. The Community Learning Center Hub (CLCH) will increase FRC’s outreach capabilities in eastern Plumas County by providing free access to computers and high-speed internet for Feather River College (FRC) students Chamber members and Adult Learners.

(Made possible in part with a grant from FRC through the Adult Education Block Grant)

Geographic isolation and financial challenges often contribute to educational disadvantages for rural schools. Eastern Plumas County lacks a conveniently  located learning center therefore many adult residents are challenged to attend classes or participate in programs offered through FRC. With access to a Community Learning Center Hub (CLCH) and a coordinated outreach effort between the Chamber and FRC, eastern Plumas County residents will have the opportunity to participate in the FRC project-based learning program, along with many other online courses offered through the college.

In our goal of contributing to job growth and economic vitality, FRC and the Chamber’s collaboration will increase with the establishment of the CLCH to the benefit of the residents of eastern Plumas County. It is the Chamber’s intent to offer CLCH services, including transit services, to adult students with minimal out of pocket expenses.
