This spring, Plumas Rural Services provided free Professional Development Workshops, including in Portola.  The workshops were part of adult education programs funded by the Adult Education Block Grant.

 

on April 25 and May 2, PRS provided Computer Skills Training for “Office Readiness Computer Skills, a 2-session (6 hours each) class that teaches Microsoft Excel & Word basics.  “Career Development Computer Skills,” for intermediate Microsoft Excel & Word for those already familiar with basic functions, were scheduled for May 16 and May 24. There is also a six week “Intermediate Life Skills at Work” series beginning on June 6, and focusing on developing supervisory or managerial skills. Computer Skills Training

Plumas Rural Services (PRS) is excited to offer comprehensive computer training opportunities throughout Plumas County that can help adults at various skill levels to improve their expertise for both entry-level computer skills and advanced skills. These courses are excellent for helping adults who want to gain employment, excel in their current jobs, and position themselves for advancement in their careers.

 

Students in Computer Skills Training at PRS.The Basic Computer Skills classes are aimed at participants with no current knowledge of how to use a computer. This basic class runs over a four week period, where learners identify the parts and uses of the computer. Students will learn how to use a mouse, save files, create folders, print, set up and use email and add attachments, among many other things. This series includes four classes at 2 hours each.


The Office Readiness classes include basic use of the Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word applications. Students can register for one or both classes, depending on their need. These one-day classes enable learners to increase their knowledge and skills quickly and be more prepared to achieve in the workplace or apply for jobs.


The Career Readiness classes include more advanced instruction on the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Students can bring their actual work files and gain practical experience with how to improve their use of the programs and increase efficiency at work.Computer Skills Training class at PRS
